The White House hosted its first-ever summit on extreme heat Friday.
The Biden administration invited more than 100 participants from around the country and from the federal government to discuss lessons learned from the year’s extreme heat season and to highlight successes, the White House announced.
President Joe Biden announced plans in July to host the summit as his administration proposed the first-ever federal rule to protect workers from extreme heat.
“Extreme weather events drive home a point I’ve been saying for so long: Ignoring climate change is deadly, dangerous and irresponsible,” Biden said in July.
