Former President Donald Trump on Monday visited western North Carolina, which is still reeling from damage done by Hurricane Helene, to deliver a familiar message: If he was in office, he’d be building the roads back much better than President Joe Biden’s administration can.
On Inauguration Day, Trump told reporters in hard-hit Asheville, “you’re gonna have, I think, a new crew coming in to do it properly and help you in a proper manner,” adding that the job the administration’s done so far has been “not good.”
Without offering specifics, Trump said that if reelected he would rebuild towns and cities devastated by Hurricane Helene and would “slash through every bureaucratic barrier that you’re having.”
“Every single inch of every property will be fully rebuilt, greater and more beautiful than it was before,” said Trump, who added that he would “personally recruit” businesses from across the globe to “help restore prosperity to the region.”
