President-elect Donald Trump named oil and gas executive Chris Wright as his choice to lead the Department of Energy on Saturday.
In a statement, Trump said Wright would also be part of a new Council of National Energy.
“Chris was one of the pioneers who helped launch the American Shale Revolution that fueled American Energy Independence, and transformed the Global Energy Markets and Geopolitics,” the statement said.
Wright is a Trump donor and CEO of the Denver-based energy technology company Liberty Energy, which provides hydraulic fracturing services throughout the West.
