Science Committee announces energy, environment leaders

The House Science, Space and Technology Committee on Thursday announced chairs for its energy and environment panels.

Rep. Randy Weber (R-Texas) will chair the Energy Subcommittee, and Rep. Scott Franklin (R-Fla.) will lead the Environment Subcommittee, said full committee Chair Brian Babin of Texas.

Weber has been active on energy issues. He’s a senior member of the Energy and Commerce Committee and part of the House Energy Action Team. Franklin is an appropriator who has been in Congress since 2021.

Separately, Rep. Rich McCormick (R-Ga.) is taking the gavel of the Investigations and Oversight Subcommittee. He has been in the House since 2023.
