Republicans seek documents from climate grant recipients

The top Republican on the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee is requesting documents and other internal records from environmental groups that received EPA grants — including some that are now suing the Trump administration.

Chair James Comer (R-Ky.) sent letters to eight environmental nonprofits Thursday, seeking answers about “potential entanglements or conflicts of interest” between the groups and the Biden administration’s EPA.

All eight groups received grants from the $20 billion Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund (GGRF) that Democrats established through their 2022 climate law.

The letters mark the latest expansion of Comer’s investigation into the disbursement of the GGRF funds, which he and other Republicans say was rife with corruption.
