A House Natural Resources subcommittee is set to reheat legislative leftovers in its first session of the 119th Congress, including a bid to extend a key water conservation program in the Colorado River Basin.

The Natural Resources Subcommittee on Water, Wildlife and Fisheries will consider four bills on Thursday.

Wyoming Republican Rep. Harriet Hageman will present H.R. 231, the “Colorado River Basin System Conservation Extension Act of 2025.”

The bill would extend a $125 million effort to reduce water use in the states of Colorado, New Mexico, Utah and Wyoming — which comprise the Upper Basin of the Colorado River — that expired at the end of last year.
