Jennifer Nersesian will be the next regional director of the National Park Service’s National Capital Region starting in December.
Nersesian has spent 22 years in NPS leadership roles, including most recently as superintendent of Gateway National Recreation Area in New York and New Jersey.
In her new position, she will oversee roughly 79,000 acres of parkland in and around Washington, including monuments, memorials and civil war battlefields.
“Jen’s leadership style and experience managing a complex urban park will be indispensable in her new role as regional director,” NPS Deputy Director Frank Lands said in a statement Monday.
