The National Park Foundation named a park service veteran Monday as its next president and CEO.

Jeff Reinbold will lead the foundation, which is authorized by Congress to raise private money for the National Park Service, beginning in February 2025. In a career that has spanned more than 30 years, he has spent the last five years as superintendent of the National Mall and Memorial Parks in Washington.

In his new role, Reinbold will take over the foundation as it is seeking to raise $1 billion to support improvements across the 431 NPS park sites. He will start in the role of CEO-elect on Dec. 1, the foundation said in a news release.
