Is ‘all of the above’ back for Democrats?

Tim Walz on Tuesday resurrected an expression that has disappeared from Democratic vernacular on energy policy in recent memory: “all of the above.”

The Minnesota governor used the phrase during the vice presidential debate Tuesday night, when responding to attacks from Sen. JD Vance (R-Ohio) on Vice President Kamala Harris’ energy policies.

It’s unclear whether the comment was intentional or planned, but it reflects Walz and Harris’ embrace of U.S. record fossil fuel production as a means of attracting voters and countering Republican attacks about energy prices.

Vance on Tuesday accused President Joe Biden and Harris of raising costs and harming the climate by outsourcing energy production to other countries with lower environmental standards.
