House panel probes ‘Pro-Hamas’ rally on public land

The Interior Department’s top watchdog will testify on Tuesday as a House panel revisits a high-profile demonstration on National Park Service property.

In a rescheduled hearing originally planned for September, the Natural Resources Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations will put a spotlight on a July 24 protest held near Union Station in Washington.

The hearing’s thrust is summed up in its title, “Desecrating Old Glory: Investigating How the Pro-Hamas Protests Turned National Park Service Land into a Violent Disgrace.

The National Park Service issued a public gathering permit for a group that wanted to protest the appearance of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Capitol Hill.
