Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm had her work cut out during her first appearance before the House Oversight and Accountability Committee, as Republicans unleashed a barrage of partisan accusations on fossil fuels, electric vehicles and more.
Most notably, Republicans summed up their narrative that the president has started a war on domestic energy producers with his climate agenda.
“President Biden and his Administration, including you as the secretary of the Department of Energy, have taken several actions to make the United States less energy independent, including by trying to shut down American fossil-fuel production,” said Chair James Comer (R-Ky.).
“Decisions like the Department’s ban on new liquefied natural gas export permits are just the most recent example of how the Department has jeopardized our energy security.”
