EPA shutters DEI office, agencies scrub websites

The White House has directed DEI-related employees be placed on leave and eventually laid off.

EPA moved to close its diversity office Wednesday in the wake of President Donald Trump’s executive order ending the use of such “diversity, equity, inclusion and accessibility” principles, the first steps toward implementing the “anti-woke” platform on which Trump was elected.

Along with the Energy and Interior departments, EPA also scrubbed from its website a webpage devoted to its Office of Inclusive Excellence.

A Tuesday memo from the Office of Personnel Management mandated quick action to end such work at all agencies, including removing websites and closing offices.

In addition to canceling all diversity-related training, OPM’s memo also commanded agencies to immediately place any DEIA-focused employees on immediate leave and write plans to officially lay them off — including for any personnel whose job descriptions may have been changed since the election “to obscure their connection to DEIA programs.”
