EPA has rounded out a panel of scientific advisers to aid in a new review of its ground-level ozone standards, marking a key step in the assessment of a particularly far-reaching air pollution regulation.

After taking nominations this summer, the agency on Thursday posted the final roster of the 21-member Clean Air Scientific Advisory Committee Ozone Panel. Besides a half-dozen previously named committee members, the lineup includes 15 others to furnish added expertise.

They include Sushma Masemore, assistant secretary for environment at the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality, Dr. Mark Frampton, a retired University of Rochester pulmonologist who worked on the most recent review of the ozone standards, and Dr. Laura Van Winkle, a professor of veterinary medicine at the University of California, Davis.

The final choices were culled from a group of 42 candidates. Some of the new members must still be brought on board as special government employees at EPA; a kickoff meeting has yet to be scheduled.
