A longtime senior career attorney with the Department of Justice’s environment division is making moves to a private law firm.
After 26 years with DOJ’s Environment and Natural Resources Division (ENRD), Justin Smith will join Beveridge & Diamond, bringing with him decades of experience in air, water and waste litigation as well as regulatory compliance and legislative strategy.
“Justin’s unparalleled expertise in navigating complex environmental frameworks, combined with his deep understanding of government decision-making processes, positions him as an invaluable asset to our clients as they face evolving regulatory and litigation challenges,” said Marc Goldstein, managing principal of the law firm.
Smith most recently served as chief of Law and Policy Section at ENRD, where he designed regulatory frameworks and evaluated litigation risks for major federal environmental rules under statutes like the Clean Air Act and Clean Water Act.
