Two House Democrats are urging the Department of Energy to publish projected life-cycle greenhouse gas emissions for each of its seven regional hydrogen hubs.
On Tuesday, Reps. Jamie Raskin (D-Md.) and Don Beyer (D-Va.) wrote Office of Clean Energy Demonstrations acting Director Kelly Cummins asking her office to release emissions data for hydrogen production at the hubs within two weeks.
Notably, the lawmakers want the new data to include “induced grid emissions” caused by hydrogen made using electricity from the grid.
“In the interest of increasing transparency around the climate benefits of the hydrogen hubs, we urge OCED to provide within two weeks their estimates of the lifecycle, and consequential emissions of hydrogen production,” the lawmakers wrote.
