BRUSSELS — The Chinese carmakers that have been hit by the EU with rebalancing duties have sued the bloc at its own court in Luxembourg, the register of cases shows.
SAIC, BYD and Volvo owner Geely all filed complaints.
The goal would be to annul the law that imposed the duties. If the court sides with the exporters, they could then attempt to claim back the losses.
The deadline for appealing the European Commission’s duties, which were imposed in October, was Wednesday. A Chinese industry group that represents the companies was also expected to file a case.
