Chemical company DuPont is again splitting into three companies, divvying up PFAS liabilities once more.

DuPont de Nemours announced Wednesday it plans to separate into three independent public companies: New DuPont, Electronics and Water.

New DuPont would specialize in health care, transportation and safety; Electronics would specialize in semiconductors and interconnections; and Water would specialize in filtration and desalination technologies.

The tax-free separation transaction, which the company estimates will take 18 to 24 months, would also shake up how DuPont and its spinoffs share the costs of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances liabilities and other obligations.
