BLM foundation hires former REI executive to senior post

The Bureau of Land Management’s congressionally authorized foundation has hired a former executive from outdoor recreation giant REI to oversee government relations and start grant-making program.

The Foundation for America’s Public Lands on Thursday named Taldi Harrison its chief program officer to oversee state and federal government relations, build community partnerships, and design and launch “strategic initiatives.”

Harrison, who directed community affairs and government relations for REI, will implement a new foundation grant program expected to be launched in the fall to help fund BLM projects.

“Her expertise, vision, and passion for BLM’s multiple use mission are critical to achieve impact as we chart through our inaugural programs and build lasting partnerships,” said I Ling Thompson, who was hired last year as the foundation’s first CEO.
