The Bureau of Land Management announced Monday it has formally approved a large-scale project in southwest Arizona that would rank among the nation’s biggest power-producing solar projects.
The Jove Solar Project is among dozens of green energy projects proposed on federal lands that the Biden administration has been working to advance through the permitting process before President-elect Donald Trump takes office this month.
Trump has been critical of the Biden administration’s focus on renewable energy. He’s expected, as he did during his first term in office, to slow down the permitting of utility-scale solar, wind and geothermal power projects in favor of beefing up oil and gas leasing and mining activity.
