With President Joe Biden’s time in office now certainly drawing to a close, his team is touting the administration’s climate legacy as the behemoth Inflation Reduction Act turns two years old this month.
Top Biden climate officials Wednesday heralded the work done since the president signed the sweeping climate and health care legislation on Aug. 16, 2022.
“We’re very proud of our 2-year-old that has accomplished more than any 2-year-old ever has,” national climate adviser Ali Zaidi told reporters Wednesday as he and other Biden aides lauded the law for creating jobs in the clean energy sector and cutting costs for consumers.
The fate of the Inflation Reduction Act is uncertain heading into 2025, with Republicans eyeing cuts or changes to Biden’s signature climate law if former President Donald Trump regains office in January.
