You might call Jason Miller the Biden administration’s Elon Musk.
They’ve both taken on the Herculean challenge of making the federal government more efficient and they’re both graduates of the University of Pennsylvania. But that might be where the similarities end between the flame-throwing Tesla CEO and the low-key Biden White House budget office official.
Unlike Musk — who’s preparing to wage war against bureaucratic inefficiencies as an outsider with Trump’s blessing — Miller has spent the past four years trying to streamline the government as an insider and as deputy director for management in President Joe Biden’s budget office.
The federal workforce has gotten bigger than it was four years ago, Miller said in a recent interview. He also thinks things are working better than they were when the Biden administration took office.
