Deputy Energy Secretary David Turk is having “constructive conversations” with President-elect Donald Trump’s transition team and is eyeing the release of billions of dollars of additional Department of Energy grants and loans before Inauguration Day.

In an interview Thursday, DOE’s No. 2 in command also said his next job will be a visiting fellow at an unnamed university, a position that will be announced in coming days and allow him to write on energy issues and “catch my breath.”

Turk said he has had approximately three meetings with the Trump DOE transition team — including with landing team leaders Ted Garrish and Paul Dabbar — that focused on areas of “mutual agreement” with the Biden administration.
