The Republican mayor of Arizona’s third-largest city has publicly denounced former President Donald Trump and endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris.

Now Mesa Mayor John Giles — who has focused on climate action — is set to take a prominent role in Harris’ campaign for the White House.

Giles is part of the group Republicans for Harris and will attend a rally with the vice president in the Phoenix area Friday evening. Giles is also poised to attend the Democratic National Convention later this month.
