The founder of an activist group met with a senior adviser to Vice President Kamala Harris on Tuesday and urged her presidential campaign to give climate change a central role in the race for the White House.
Michael Greenberg, the founder of the protest group Climate Defiance, met with Ike Irby, Harris’ senior adviser on the campaign and her longtime top climate aide. They met virtually Tuesday afternoon for about 30 minutes, Greenberg said.
“I talked about a few of our demands,” said Greenberg, whose group is known for disrupting Biden administration officials and lawmakers to call for more urgent action to combat climate change.
“We want her to oppose fossil-fuel subsidies,” Greenberg said. “We need to rapidly phase out fossil-fuel infrastructure, fossil-fuel use, fossil-fuel exports.”
