A top Department of Energy official dove deep into a host of issues at a House hearing Wednesday, including details on the administration’s liquefied natural gas export review pause, uranium supplies and how the agency has been spending its windfall from recent climate and energy laws.

Bipartisan lawmakers on the House Science, Space and Technology Committee also peppered Deputy Secretary David Turk over DOE’s budget request for fusion energy, arguing more funding was needed.

Turk said that while he wanted more spending on fusion, he was acceding to tough fiscal realities. The House will release its spending bill covering the department Thursday.
