Republicans may expand their Senate victory as more votes are counted Wednesday.

Republicans won back control of the Senate on Tuesday, flipping at least three Democratic seats to deliver them a clear majority.

Exactly how big that majority will be remains in question, but as of early Wednesday morning, Republicans were maintaining leads in several states, including Pennsylvania, Michigan and Wisconsin.

But with the loss of Sens. Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio) and Jon Tester (D-Mont.) and a win by Republican Jim Justice in West Virginia, the GOP secured at least 51 seats. It is the first time Republican will control the Senate since 2020.

The Republican wins will pave the way for their preferred judicial and executive branch nominations, as former President Donald Trump also claimed the presidency.
