Even if Republicans take over the Senate, their majority will be tight.

Democrats eager to keep control of the Senate are hoping six incumbents keep their seats. They may also need to prevail in Michigan and Arizona, where there are two open seats up for grabs.

Republicans have better odds, however. They need to flip only two of those seats to turn the Senate red and either facilitate a Trump agenda or block Harris administration and judicial nominees.

Current Majority Leader Chuck Schumer told colleagues that he’s optimistic about picking up seats, not just playing defense, according to remarks obtained by POLITICO.

“We have decent chances of picking up three seats: We’re even in Texas. We’re a point or two behind in Nebraska. We’re only 3 points behind in Florida. So … we’re right on the edge of keeping the Senate, of winning the House, of keeping the presidency,” Schumer said.
