A packaging lobby group representing major food companies announced it will be under new leadership at the start of next year.
Melissa Hockstad, who currently leads the American Cleaning Institute, will take over as president and CEO of the Consumer Brands Association on Jan. 6, 2025, the association announced Thursday.
CBA, whose member companies include Target, General Mills and Eastman Chemical, has been a vocal opponent of some EPA plans addressing chemical risks and plastic pollution.
Hockstad, a materials science engineer, will replace outgoing CBA chief David Chavern, who left for the American Council of Life Insurers last month. Hockstad’s resume includes other notable chemical groups, such as the Plastics Industry Association, American Fuel & Petrochemical Manufacturers, LyondellBasell and the Society of Chemical Manufacturers & Affiliates.
