The top Republican on the Senate Agriculture Committee released a farm bill framework Tuesday that would raid billions from Democrats’ 2022 climate law and would eliminate a requirement that conservation funds focus on climate change.
The proposal from Sen. John Boozman (R-Ark.) sets up a clash with Senate Democrats, who for months have railed against Republican efforts on the climate money.
It draws him closer to House Republicans on such policies, though Boozman doesn’t detail how he’d pay for increased support to farmers.

Covering the cost of the roughly $1.5 trillion, five-year legislation is emerging as the biggest hurdle to passing a farm bill in 2024, and Boozman said only that his forthcoming bill would draw on a variety of sources.
