The Department of Energy announced changes for some of its carbon and fossil energy officials as one joins the White House and another returns to academia and nonprofit work.
Jennifer Wilcox, who served as the principal deputy assistant secretary in DOE’s Office of Fossil Energy and Carbon Management (FECM), left DOE at the end of May, according to the department.
Wilcox, who joined DOE in January 2021, is heading back to the University of Pennsylvania and the World Resources Institute — a nonprofit research organization — as a senior fellow working on carbon removal and reducing industrial emissions.
Mark Ackiewicz, deputy assistant secretary for DOE’s Office of Carbon Management at FECM, will serve as acting principal deputy assistant secretary of FECM on a temporary basis “while the position is being recruited,” the office said in a statement Monday.
