Senate Republicans are seeking to overturn a recent Biden administration energy rule that significantly raises costs for oil companies to drill on public lands.
On Tuesday, Sen. Steve Daines (R-Mont.) introduced a Congressional Review Act resolution, S.J. Res. 78, that would kill the Interior Department’s proposal using the CRA.
Under the rule bonds for new oil and gas leases would go from today’s $10,000 to a minimum of $150,000.
“[President] Joe Biden set out on an anti-American energy war path on Day One, and ever since Montana’s small oil and gas producers have been a target,” said Daines, who leads the Senate’s campaign arm.
