About E&E Publishing

Business in brief

Environment & Energy Publishing (E&E) is the leading source for comprehensive, daily coverage of environmental and energy policy and markets.

E&E's four daily on-line publications are considered "must-reads" by people who track and influence energy, environmental and climate policy. (Click here for a description of each of our news services.)

We are a high-tech business with an old-school approach to journalism. E&E's 40-person award-winning editorial team is among the best in the business and enjoys unrivaled access to key players in energy and environmental policy. So every day we develop insightful, balanced, timely stories readers won't find anywhere else.

Our coverage of major, breaking news goes deeper than the mass-market news services and brings readers informed, balanced, spin-free reporting that keeps them atop critical issues and developments.

And while we cover the Washington policy and political scene like nobody else, our coverage is also national and global. E&E reporters travel around the world to do boots-on-the-ground coverage of the issues shaping energy markets and environmental policy. And we operate several regional bureaus, including New York City and San Francisco, to keep readers consistently up-to-speed on key developments in the finance, technology and other sectors. And in January 2009 our full-time European bureau opens in Brussels to guide and enhance our coverage of the EU region as it implements the Kyoto protocol, struggles with energy supply issues and adopts regulations affecting multi-national companies.

Key areas covered by E&E's more that 40 reporters and editors:

1998:

  • E&E formed as independent company. Publishes Environment & Energy Weekly, a printed weekly for people who make and influence energy and environmental legislation in the US Congress. Also publishes the weekly natural resources report, Land Letter. Total readership: Approx. 1,000

2000:

  • Environment & Energy Weekly becomes Environment & Energy Daily, moves to primarily an on-line format. Continues to focus on the US Congress.
  • E&E acquires Greenwire from National Journal. Greenwire, established in 1991, was one of the first on-line subscription-based publications. Greenwire had covered environmental issues by synthesizing and abstracting news reports from hundreds of services across the US and around the world. E&E expanded coverage substantially to include energy issues and shifted the emphasis to original reporting. Total readership: Approx. 3,000

2005:

  • E&E launches afternoon daily, E&ENews PM, to keep readers apprised of late-breaking action in the US Congress and around the world.
  • Launches E&ETV, a Web-based video production division operated out of broadcast-quality studios built at E&E's Capitol Hill headquarters. E&ETV features the program OnPoint, a daily interview format that focuses on delivering thought-leading discussions with policy makers, authors and other key people involved with energy and environmental policy. Total readership: Approx. 15,000

2007:

  • E&E acquires CQ Greensheets from Congressional Quarterly, incorporating that formerly competing service into E&E's existing publications. Total readership: Approx. 30,000

2008:

  • E&E launches ClimateWire, a daily publication focusing on global climate policy, science, energy and market issues. Total readership: Approx. 40,000
