Gore calls for end of carbon-based electricity in 10 years
Former Vice President Al Gore challenged the nation yesterday to wean itself off "carbon-based" electricity in 10 years and fire all generators with wind, solar, nuclear and other power sources with low greenhouse gas emissions. The Nobel Prize winner touted a carbon dioxide tax as the "single most important policy change" the country could make to lower its carbon footprint. He said there was no time to wait for action, since recent submarine data indicate that ice caps are melting faster than expected. Go to story #1
